A local Danish newspaper found this to be an interesting initiative and decided to write an article about our office workout at Xplanation Denmark. A journalist from the newspaper came to visit us on a Tuesday at 2 pm where the workout usually takes place.
The idea came about when employees at Xplanation Denmark were carrying out an evaluation of the workplace. We started talking about the fact that we spend most of the day in front of a computer, and discussed what could be done to prevent work-related injuries. Now two of the employees take turns at being the instructor and they offer a variety of workout programmes for their colleagues. Included in the workout are, for instance, arm and neck exercises, reverse press-ups and even weight-lifting with large dictionaries!
Everyone at the Danish office supports the idea even though participation is voluntary. The brief break also keeps spirits high in the office since the exercises often bring smiles to our faces. The office workout finishes with a round of applause.
With this great idea Xplanation Denmark has entered a competition on good/funny initiatives at workplaces in Eastern Jutland in Denmark. The winner will have two comedians come to the next company party. We would of course be thrilled to win the prize and as our daily workout is here to stay, we think we deserve the credit!
